The Bichon Frise is chosen for the cross because it is relatively small, a happy, playful companion and the fact that it hypoallergenic. Another reason is to create a dog with greater genetic variety, and although this is not a guarantee of better health, studies have shown that crossbreds are generally healthier and live longer than purebred dogs.
